Elisha Cuthbert is a Canadian born Hollywood actress and TV presenter. Officially, Elisha Ann Cuthbert was born in November 30, 1982 in Calgary, Canada. Her father is Kevin Cuthbert and mother is Patricia Cuthbert. Elisha is the youngest of three with a younger sister Lee Ann and a younger brother Jonathan. When she was a child, her family moved to a place near Montreal called Greenfield Park. Montreal is the 2nd largest French-speaking city in the world and as a result of this she speaks French a little bit. She is noted for her role in the American action thriller 24 as Kim Bauer and as a host in celebrated TV show Popular Mechanics for Kids.

She started her career as a model for various children clothing lines. She made her first television appearance in 1999 in a horror themed TV series called ‘Are you afraid of the dark’. She appeared for the first time in that series as a young girl in one episode and later she became a regular actress in the series and played the character of Megan during 1999-200.

In 1997 she signed for a role in the family drama ‘Dancing on the moon’ and it was her first feature film appearance. She gave a good performance in the movie and everybody noticed the young blonde with some real acting talent. After this movie she appeared in several other Canadian movies like ‘Airspeed’ and she also appeared in a television movie ‘Lucky Girl’ in 2001 and was awarded a Gemini Award for her performance.

During this time Elisha co hosted a popular Canadian television show called ‘popular mechanics for kids’ with Jay Baruchel. She had to fly around the world frequently as part of the show despite her aversion to plane travel. But all this paid off and the show went on to become a huge hit. Her reporting captured the attention of then-First Lady, Hillary Clinton, who invited her to visit the White House.

In 200 when she was seventeen years old, she graduated from Centennial Regional High School. Shortly after her graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in acting. In California she wanted to do something that would make her famous in the American screen. But during her early days in California she was not lucky to get any big projects. But later she signed for the hit American television series 24 as Kimberly Bauer, daughter of CTU agent Jack Bauer.

She acted as Kim in the series ‘24’. She appeared in the first three seasons. But in the fifth season she made a comeback as a guest star. But later in 24: the game, she reprised her role as Kim Bauer. She has also said that she would like to play her role as Kim in the upcoming movie, 24: The Movie.

Elisha auditioned for the role of Mary Jane in the spider man movie but wasn’t successful and the role eventually played by Kirsten Dunst. Later she played minor roles in several Hollywood movies like the comedy ‘old school’ and ‘love actually’.

In 2004 she played one of the most noted characters of her career- Danielle the young porn star in the movie ‘the girl next door’. The film received mixed responses from the critics but her performance in the movie was one of her best.

In 2005 Elisha starred with Paris Hilton and Chad Michael Murray in the 2005 remake of the classic horror film House of Wax. The film wasn’t well received by the critics but her performance in it won her much praise.

In 2005 she appeared in an independent movie ‘the quite’ as Nina, a temperamental 17-year old cheerleader who suffered from sexual abuse. This film was premiered at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival and received a limited release in Los Angeles and New York City on August 25, 2006, before expanding regionally on September 1. She was also the co producer of the movie.

In 2006 Elisha appeared in a music video for weezers and in a Paris Hilton music video called ‘Nothing in this world’. As of September 2006, Cuthbert is scheduled to appear in three feature films. The first, Captivity, is a thriller centered on a fashion model and her chauffeur being taunted by a psychopath who has imprisoned them in a cellar. She is playing a quadriplegic in the movie ‘He Was a Quiet Man’ and the name of her character in the movie is Vanessa. Her co-stars in the movie are Christian Slater and William H. Macy. She will appear in the movie ‘Cat tale’- an animated movie – as the voice of Cleo. Cat Tale is scheduled for release in 2007 by Walt Disney Pictures. And she also signed for the movie ‘My sassy girl’ remake of the popular South Korean movie with Jesse Bradford.

Elisha is a big hockey fan and she as been dating ice hockey player Sean Avery. She ranked number five in the 2005 UK edition of FHM’s 100 sexiest women in the world list. Maxim magazine named her number 92 in its 2006 hot 100 list

She currently resides in Los Angeles and she has expressed an interest in returning to live in Montreal once she reached her higher goals in her career.
